March 06, 2001

Two days after she suffered cardiac arrest on U.S. 1 and was aided by a Howard County police officer, Janice Divers died at Johns Hopkins Hospital, hospital staff said yesterday.

Divers, 58, of Glen Burnie was a passenger on the road in Jessup when she stopped breathing Thursday morning.

Pfc. Scott Magee performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation and "rescue breathing," bringing her back from cardiac arrest once.

Thursday afternoon, she was in fair condition.

But Friday she was in critical condition, and she died Saturday, hospital staff said.
