Annapolis hotel expects to unveil renovations in April

Visitors to the Sheraton Barcelo Hotel in Annapolis this spring will find several new touches thanks to a $4.5 million renovation that its management expects to be complete by mid-April.

The Jennifer Road hotel is modernizing from the beds to the lobby, hoping to attract more meeting and party business, general manager Susan Mabry said.

"You name it - everything is being gutted," she said.

Mabry said the hotel will unveil a new atrium, lobby, health club and ballroom. Its 197 rooms will be redesigned to include sleigh beds and Roman shades.

Arundel Mills sponsors TWIN awards, ceremony

Arundel Mills mall will pay $12,000 to sponsor the YMCA's 16th annual Tribute to Women and Industry, or TWIN, awards.

This year's dinner is scheduled for June 7 at Michael's Eighth Avenue in Glen Burnie.

Anne Arundel County businesses have until April 13 to submit the name of a female employee in a management or executive position who has made significant contributions to her company's progress.

Applications are available at the YWCA, 1517 Ritchie Highway, Arnold 21012, or by calling Carolyn Sullivan at 410-757-2753.
