Akers-Doetsch named chair of Grand Prix board

Sharon L. Akers-Doetsch of Sharon Akers & Associates has been named chairwoman of the Columbia Classic Grand Prix board of directors.

Sherman to serve on board of Computer Solutions

Caroline Sherman, president of Columbia-based Computer Solutions GSD Inc., began a two-year term as a member of the board of directors of Purchasing Manager Inc., a purchasing services company founded in 1992 by Penny and Jean Friedberg, who are the owners and managers.

Stroud is elected to volunteer lawyers board

Barron L. Stroud Jr., an attorney with the Baltimore law firm of Shapiro, Sher and Guinot and a resident of Columbia, has been elected to the Board of Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service.

The organization provides free and low-cost legal assistance to low-income Maryland residents.
