Marymount drops Salisbury women

SALISBURY - Candice Brown scored 23 points as Marymount ended Salisbury State's season yesterday with a 64-59 victory in the second round of the women's NCAA Division III tournament.

The Sea Gulls beat the Saints eight days ago to win the Capital Athletic Conference tournament and qualify for the NCAAs.

Salisbury (24-4) led 28-24 at halftime, but Marymount (23-6) improved its shooting from 30 percent in the first half to 46 percent in the second. Marymount had a 55-35 rebounding advantage, led by 11 each from Brown and Jodie Knotts.

Jaime Kohlenstein and Lisa Neylan led the Sea Gulls with 16 points each.

Marymount won its first-round game Wednesday over the College of Staten Island. Salisbury State had a first-round bye.(Box score, 6d)
