O'Conor, Piper & Flynn ERA reported that it achieved record sales of $4 billion for 2000, making it the No. 1 real estate brokerage in the Baltimore metropolitan area, according to statistics released by company officials.
OPF captured 38 percent of the market share in Baltimore City and 34 percent of the market share in Baltimore County. The broker also led in Anne Arundel County with 26 percent and Harford County with 25 percent, according to OPF/ERA.
The Baltimore-based brokerage was a market leader in the high-end residential real estate market in the metropolitan Baltimore area, with a market share of 36 percent for residences selling for more than $500,000. The company also was No. 1 in market share for homes priced higher than $350,000, with a 33.5 percent share.
"The real estate industry overall had a remarkable year, while nationally, the fourth quarter of 2000 gave consumers a boost, given that mortgage rates were lower, family incomes higher and there was a cyclical change in home prices," said John Evans, president and chief operating officer of the Timonium-based company.
