No. 1 River Hill routs Oakland Mills, 72-45

Top-ranked River Hill held seventh-ranked and host Oakland Mills to two free throws in the second quarter and took a 19-point halftime lead en route to a 72-45 Howard County league victory yesterday.

"I thought we played pretty well. We did a good job defensively," said River Hill coach Teresa Waters.

River Hill (14-1, 11-0 league) used a 12-3 scoring run in the final three minutes of the first quarter to take an 18-13 lead. The Hawks scored the first seven points of the second quarter to take a 34-15 halftime advantage.

Only three players scored for Oakland Mills (9-6, 6-5). Senior center Rayna DuBose scored 22 of her team's 30 second-half points and finished with 27. DuBose, who had four blocks, scored nine points in the last 78 seconds of the game.
