Weekend at Laurel

Ewer All Wet, who won three straight stakes races to end his 2000 campaign, is the favorite to win the 35th running of the Native Dancer Stakes. The Native Dancer will be the co-feature on a 10-race card, which will include the Miracle Wood Stakes, postponed when last Sunday's card was snowed out. The Miracle Wood precedes the Dancer as the eighth race. Both events carry a $50,000 purse. Ewer All Wet began his trio of victories by winning the Mountaineer Park Mile. The Miracle Wood Stakes will be a matchup between Ambernash Stakes winner Marciano and Talk Is Money, an impressive winner of his racing debut. Marciano comes in sporting a four-race winning streak.

Three recent stakes winners are among 10 fillies and mares that have passed the entry box for the initial running of the What A Summer Stakes. A wide-open affair in the betting, the What A Summer will be contested over 6 furlongs.

Miss Cheers (Squan Song) and Ivy's Jewel (Toes Knows) will join Doc Calls Her Kate (Francis Scott Key) for the $50,000-added event.
