150 Years of Howard History

January 23, 2001

Howard County, which began July 4, 1851, as a western outpost of neighboring Anne Arundel County, is celebrating its 150th anniversary.

The Howard County edition of The Sun will publish a column on county history and the people who were part of it Tuesdays during the school year. This week's column, on Page 3B, contains excerpts from a book by local historian Helen Voris that describes life on Lawyers Hill in the 19th century and the people who lived there.
