Sylvan appoints Pines VP of Career Starters

Sylvan Learning Systems Inc. appointed Steven Pines as vice president of Career Starters, its work force development services group for unemployed adults and out-of-school youths. He will oversee the program operation of 13 centers around the United States. The Southern Illinois University MBA is a Baltimore native and formerly was deputy director of community services for the Enterprise Foundation.

Judkins joins MPT as associate producer

Maryland Public Television announced that Tiffany A. Judkins has joined the staff as an associate producer. The former multimedia producer and instructor with Prince George's County public schools will now produce teacher training programs and program segments. She lives in Woodlawn and is a graduate of Northern Illinois University.

Ades is associate attorney at Adelberg, Rudow, Dorf

Adelberg, Rudow, Dorf & Hendler has admitted Renee Bronfein Ades to the Baltimore-based law firm as an associate attorney. Her practice will focus on litigation, with an emphasis on family law. The University of Baltimore law graduate was a founding principal as well as treasurer and chief financial officer of NeighborCare Pharmacies. She is a member of the Maryland Trial Lawyers Association and several bar associations, including the American, Maryland and Baltimore City bars.

Manekin names Dicker acquisitions senior VP

Manekin LLC named Joel A. Dicker senior vice president of acquisitions and development. He will work out of the Columbia-based regional commercial realty company's offices in New Jersey and its headquarters in Columbia. A graduate of Rutgers University, he formerly was a vice president with Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co.
