AAUW offering two $1,500 scholarships

The American Association of University Women's Severna Park branch is offering two $1,500 transfer scholarships for female students at Anne Arundel Community College who will be entering an accredited college or university in their junior year.

Each recipient must plan to attain a bachelor's degree and have a grade-point average of at least 3.0, evidence of financial need, been active as a volunteer and be a resident of Anne Arundel County.

The application deadline is April 1, and will be followed by personal interviews with questions based on the student's educational and professional plans. The winners will be notified by May 1.

Money for the scholarships is raised by the Severna Park AAUW branch through donations and its annual book sale.

Windows Me PC course set to begin next week

An eight-week Windows Me Users Course is being offered from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, beginning next week, at Severn River Middle School, 241 Peninsula Farm Road, Arnold.

The class, sponsored by the Chesapeake PC Users Group, is for anyone interested in expanding knowledge of Windows Me. A fee of $50 covers the cost of training materials.

The class will be taught at a beginner and intermediate level, but students are expected to be familiar with their computer system. For information or to register, call 410-647-6077.
