UMES tops Albany in 3 OTs, 102-96

W. Maryland women rout Haverford, 71-48

Andre Newson scored seven of his 27 points in the third overtime to lead visiting Maryland-Eastern Shore to a 102-96 victory over Albany, N.Y., last night.

Kevin Darby, who had 17 points and 11 rebounds, hit a three-point field goal at the start of the third extra period to put UMES (3-7) ahead for a good at 92-89.

Albany (4-11) rallied from an 11-point deficit in the second half to force the first overtime.

UMES's Tim Smith had 15 points and 16 rebounds and sank a pair of foul shots with 24.3 seconds left in regulation.

Bowie State 81, N.C. Central 69: Omarr Smith led four double-digit scorers with 25 points as the host Bulldogs (10-3, 5-1) beat the Eagles (4-8, 1-4) in a Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association game.

Women

Western Maryland 71, Haverford 48: Patty Russo scored 13 points and Green Terror (8-2, 4-0) held the host Fords (2-8, 0-4) to six second-half field goals in a Centennial Conference game.

N.C. Central 74, Bowie State 40: Amba Kongolo scored 14 points to power the visiting Eagles (11-2, 4-0) past the Bulldogs (4-9, 1-5) in a CIAA game.

Denay Fields led Bowie with 13.
