Persons at risk for complications from flu who have not received the vaccine are being urged by the department to attend one of the free clinics.

Flu shots also are available at county health centers by appointment. Pneumococcal vaccine also will be available at the walk-in clinic and health centers.

The shots are free, but health officials are requesting a $7 donation to help pay for the cost of administering the vaccines. Medicare will cover the donation for those with Part B coverage.
