Police Blotter is a sampling of crimes from police reports in Baltimore City and Baltimore County.

Baltimore City

Central District

Burglary: A thief used a brick to smash the glass entry to Walgreens in the first block of E. Fayette St. about 1:30 a.m. yesterday and stole 15 cartons of Newport cigarettes. The same store had been robbed of an unknown number of Newport cigarette cartons Friday.

Attempted burglary: Officers were called to Leon's, a bar in the 800 block of Park Ave., about 5 a.m. Sunday to a burglary in progress, in which three men attempted to pry open the front door with a tire iron. Nothing was stolen. Police responding to the scene stopped three men walking away from the bar and who matched the description of the suspects. They were arrested on burglary charges.

Western District

Armed robbery: A man was walking in the 1300 block of W. Baltimore St. about 12 p.m. Friday when two men, one armed with a gun, demanded he hand over his money. He was robbed of $420.

Baltimore County

Garrison Precinct

Burglary: A thief smashed the front glass door of Hair Cuttery in the 2800 block of Smith Ave. between 8 p.m. Saturday and 6 a.m. Sunday and stole $400 from the front desk. Damage was found behind the business where the thief attempted to pry open the back door.

Destruction of property/hate crime: A swastika and the number "666" were found scrawled on a wall at the Green Spring Shopping Center, in the 2800 block of Smith Ave., about 8:30 a.m. Sunday. It was not known when the wall was vandalized.

Burglary: A thief entered a residence in the first block of Peachtree Court between 7 p.m. Friday and 5 p.m. Saturday through an unlocked rear sliding-glass door. Among the items stolen were a cellular phone and a laptop computer.

Cockeysville Precinct

Stolen car: A 1999 dark blue Dodge Neon was stolen early Sunday from the 10000 block of Bluebell Way. The two-door car was valued at $10,000.

Parkville Precinct

Burglary: A thief broke through the basement door of a home in the 3300 block of Putty Hill Ave. between 11:30 a.m. Sunday and 12:30 p.m. yesterday, escaping with an estimated $500 in jewelry and coins.

North Point Precinct

Handgun/drug violation: Police responding to a report of an unconscious person at North Point and Merritt Boulevard about 7 a.m. yesterday arrived to find an intoxicated man sitting in a green Honda Accord with a magazine clip in view on the driver's side of the door. He was asked to step out of the vehicle, and officers found a silver- and black-colored 9 mm handgun under the driver's seat. A bag of marijuana was found in his front jeans pocket as well as a small amount of suspected crack cocaine in his coat. He was arrested on a handgun violation and drug charges.
