A Baltimore County police officer responding to a burglary call was injured yesterday when his cruiser collided with a car at Belair Road and Blakely Avenue in Perry Hall.

Officer Marvin Tinsley Hall, 34, was traveling north on Belair Road when the driver of a car ahead of him made an abrupt U-turn, said Bill Toohey, a police spokesman.

Toohey said the police car - which was not using emergency lights - collided with the other vehicle and flipped onto its roof.

"The officer was in the left-hand lane and [the other driver] was in the right-hand lane and decides to make a U-turn in front of the officer," Toohey said.

Firefighters had to cut Hall, a 13-year veteran assigned to the White Marsh precinct, from the wreckage. He was treated for a head injury at Maryland Shock Trauma Center and released, Toohey said.

The driver of the other vehicle - Sergey Alecksandorv Slonevsky, 23, of the 8600 block of Stark Court in Perry Hall - was treated at Franklin Square Hospital Center and released.

Hall was responding to a burglary alarm at DeSantis House of Pasta in the 9600 block of Belair Road. Toohey said it appeared to have been a false alarm.

Toohey said police are investigating the accident.
