MAA to demonstrate technology to track flights, analyze noise

Maryland Aviation Administration officials will demonstrate the technology used for flight tracking and noise analysis at Baltimore-Washington International Airport during the Maryland Technology Showcase on Wednesday and Thursday at the Baltimore Convention Center.

The MAA demonstration of the Total Airport Management Information System will be part of the Maryland Department of Transportation exhibit, to be located near the food court.

The state of Maryland is the official host of the event, and the Department of Transportation is a roundtable sponsor.

The showcase is open to the public and includes many free educational workshops and sessions. The event will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The convention center can be reached by light rail from the BWI Business District station at Elkridge Landing Road.

School, church carolers to perform at the airport

The Glen Burnie High School chorus will entertain travelers during the BWI holiday tree-lighting ceremony Thursday morning.

Other groups that will be caroling in the BWI terminal as part of a holiday entertainment program include Linthicum Elementary School, Corkran Middle School, MacArthur Middle School, Chesapeake High School, Rippling Woods Elementary School, Elkridge Landing Middle School and the Global Mission Church of Silver Spring.

The tree lighting ceremony will take place at 11:30 a.m. in the lower-level Observation Gallery.

Breakfast meeting to have Owens as keynote speaker

Anne Arundel County Executive Janet S. Owens will be the keynote speaker for the BWI Business Partnership's "Spirit of Success" breakfast meeting Thursday.

Owens will present the county's accomplishments of this year and her plans for next year.

The BWI Business Partnership Inc. is a nonprofit, economic development and transportation management association made up of leading area employers.
