November 28, 2000|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

A North Laurel teen-ager accused of stabbing a man who confronted him about an earlier robbery pleaded guilty yesterday to robbery and assault charges.

Dorsel Nathaniel Knight, 18, is scheduled to be sentenced Feb. 8. He faces a maximum of 10 years in prison for second-degree assault and 15 years for robbery, although prosecutors said they will ask for a term within the sentencing guidelines - three months to four years.

Knight and a friend, Dominic Brown, 18, of Laurel, were charged in the stabbing and beating of Jason Martino, 21, on June 29.

Martino sought out Knight after his girlfriend's brother, Curtis Pickeral, was robbed. Knight took a pager and a knife from Pickeral and a watch from his friend Kyle Thompson, according to court documents.

Brown is accused of beating Martino with a piece of wood near the intersection of All Saints and North Laurel roads in North Laurel. Knight stabbed Martino in the neck, according to court documents. Martino was treated at Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

Brown is scheduled to appear in court today.
