Winterfest of Lights
Help kick off Ocean City's eighth annual Winterfest of Lights this evening at a ceremonial tree lighting and celebration at Northside Park. After the 50-foot Christmas tree is illuminated, listen to carolers, enjoy performances by area school choruses and marching bands, meet Santa and then hop on a train for a 10-minute ride through a fantasy land of twinkling lights. Glittering scenes along the way include animated magic genies, toy soldiers, crabs and marlins.
The tree-lighting ceremony starts at 5 p.m. at Northside Park, 127th Street and the bay. The Winterfest of Lights sparkles from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays through Jan. 2. Admission to tonight's ceremony is free; train rides are $3, free for children under 12. Call 410-250-0125.
