An elderly Pennsylvania woman was killed and a mother and her 15-month-old child were injured last night in a head-on collision on U.S. 1 in Darlington, state police in Harford County reported.

Emma Lloyd, 78, of Folcroft, Pa., was driving a 1991 Chevrolet Lumina southbound on U.S. 1 near Castleton Road about 7:30 p.m. when her car was struck head-on by a northbound 1993 Mercury Sable that had crossed the double-yellow line, said Tfc. Michael Cusimano of the Bel Air state police barracks.

Lloyd died at the scene, Cusimano said.

The driver of the Mercury, Tracie Provencal, 26, of Conowingo, Harford County, and her daughter, Alexis, were taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore for treatment of serious injuries, Cusimano said.
