To market, to market, to buy -- anything

I'm a sucker for street markets, which means I'm in heaven right now, because Sydney is a market town. In our neighborhood, we've got one of the city's best, Paddy's Market, jammed into what appears to be the basement parking lot of a shopping mall. Hundreds of vendors sell everything from metric wrenches to tropical fruit. You can buy dried beans and designer-label beauty goods, T-shirts and t-bone steaks. There are guys selling just socks and women pushing platform shoes. It's all friendly, nice and clean, which is sort of mind-boggling considering all the fruit and vegetable stands. But that's Sydney for you. This place really works.
