The crime report is a sampling of crimes in Howard County compiled from police. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 410-313-3700.

Clarksville

Highland Road: 13000 block. Deputies from the state fire marshal's office received a call shortly before 5 a.m. Sunday that a vehicle was on fire. They arrived to find a Nissan Ultima, valued at $10,000, destroyed by fire.

East Columbia

Cradlerock Way: 7200 block, Owen Brown. After making a purchase, an unidentified man at Giant Food grabbed money from the register Saturday and fled.

Black Cherry Circle: 6200 block, Owen Brown. A resident called police after he spotted a juvenile taking a bicycle from an unlocked garage Saturday. Police arrived and arrested the juvenile.

West Columbia

Cedar Lane: 5500 block, Harper's Choice. Firefighters responded to a call from a man who reported that his apartment was on fire about 3 p.m. Sunday. The fire was put out and the man was treated for smoke inhalation.

Ellicott City/Elkridge

Northfield Road: 9000 block, Ellicott City. The window of a car was smashed Monday and a purse was stolen. .

Hanover Road: 6400 block, Elkridge. Two men entered a garage Friday and took several weapons, tools and fishing gear. Police say the men were driving a cream-colored Ford Escort.

North Laurel

Meadow Lane: 40 block. The rear door of a mobile home was pried open Sept. 2 and two weapons and a safe containing money were stolen.

Western Howard

Marriottsville Road: 1500 block. A safe containing money was stolen from Bon Secours Spiritual Center on Thursday.
