Police Blotter is a sampling of crimes from police reports in Baltimore City and Baltimore County.

Baltimore City

Southeastern District

Burglary: Property valued at nearly $19,000 was stolen from a house in the 400 block of Drew St. over the weekend. Entry was gained through the front door. Taken were several rifles and shotguns, a telephone, telephone answering machine, compact disc player, a television, ammunition and other property.

Robbery try: A man who implied he was armed with a handgun reached over the counter at CVS Pharmacy in the 1300 block of E. Fayette St. about 11:15 a.m. Sunday and tried to remove the cash register drawer. He fled when the cashier struck him on the arm.

Theft from vehicle: Books, a compact disc player, cellular telephone and clothing, all valued at nearly $600, were stolen Sunday from a 2000 Pontiac parked in the 100 block of S. Chester St.

Western District

Drug arrests: Armed with a search warrant, drug enforcement police stopped a 1995 Jeep Cherokee in the 1300 block of N. Fulton Ave. on Saturday, arrested two men and seized cocaine and heroin, all valued at more than $10,000, and $400. Gordon Jews, 30, of the 100 block of Stonecroft Road and Gregory Glascoe, 42, of the 3800 block of Derby Manor Drive were charged with possession of narcotics with intent to distribute and conspiracy to distribute narcotics. They were processed at Central Booking and Intake Center. Police searched Jews' home and found more heroin and drug packaging materials.

Drug arrest: Detective Shawn Johnson was working undercover Friday evening in the 1000 block of N. Carey St. when he observed a man receive suspected narcotics from the driver of a car. Johnson stopped the man and recovered 156 vials of cocaine valued at nearly $1,600. Lamont S. Jones, 36, of the 2000 block of Etting St. was charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine. He was processed at Central Booking and Intake Center. The driver of the car was being sought.

Officers assaulted: Officers Irving Hinkson and Chris Faller stopped a 1995 Jeep Cherokee for traffic violations in the 1200 block of W. North Ave. about 5:30 p.m. Sunday. But the driver sped off, striking Hinkson on the right forearm. The Jeep was stopped at North and Madison avenues and the driver was arrested. James E. Shoul Jr., 44, of the 3600 block of Keystone Ave. was charged with assaulting police and multiple traffic violations.

Stolen car/arrest: On Sunday at Preston and Carey streets, Sgt. Schuyler Denham and Officer Michael Smith spotted a stolen 1992 Acura Vigor that had been stolen Sept. 3 in East Baltimore. They followed the car until it crashed into a utility pole at Gilmor Street and Lafayette Avenue, where the occupants were arrested. Ignatius Harcum, 19, of the 600 block of N. Calhoun St. and Barry Turner Jr., 18, of the 1000 block of N. Carrollton Ave. were charged with auto theft and related offenses.

Robbery: A man, 32, was in the 1300 block of N. Stricker St. about 9:30 p.m. Saturday when a man armed with a gun knocked him to the ground and robbed him of $4.

Northwestern District

Stolen car: A green 4-door 1994 Chrysler with North Carolina tags LVP 5019 was stolen Sunday in the 4500 block of Wakefield Road.

Eastern District

Stolen car: A gray 1988 Chevrolet Nova with tags HLN 112 was stolen Sunday in the 900 block of N. Rutland Ave. The keys had been left in the ignition.

Baltimore County

Towson Precinct

Kidnap try: A woman, 21, was walking north in the 800 block of Dulaney Valley Road near Goucher Boulevard about 1:30 a.m. Sunday when a man offered her a ride in his car. She declined, and the man got out of the car, grabbed her and forced her into the vehicle. When the driver stopped for a red light near Joppa and Dulaney Valley roads, the woman struck him and ran from the car. The man sped away.

Burglary: Cigarettes valued at nearly $2,000 were stolen early Sunday from the 8 Days A Week Convenience Mart in the 1700 block of Taylor Ave.

Theft/arrest: A man from the 3000 block of Clifton Park Terrace in East Baltimore was arrested Sunday when he tried to leave Value City department store at Eastpoint Mall without paying for clothing and stereo headphones, all valued at more than $60.

Parkville Precinct

Burglary: A lawn mower, power washer, snow blower and weed eater, all valued at more than $1,000, were stolen Sunday from a shed in the 3400 block of North Trail Way.
