Arundel Mills mall schedules job fair in Glen Burnie on Oct. 3

With opportunities for 3,000 permanent employees and 1,500 seasonal workers, Arundel Mills has scheduled a job fair Oct. 3 and 4 at Michael's Eighth Avenue in Glen Burnie.

The Mass Transit Administration will provide shuttle service between the fair site and the Central Light Rail system's Cromwell Station. Hours of the fair will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

In a cooperative venture, Anne Arundel Community College and the county Business and Workforce Development Center are holding free retail careers orientation programs. Those attend one of the sessions will be admitted to the job fair an hour before its opening to the general public for interviews with prospective employers.

Orientation sessions will take place from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. tomorrow at Glen Burnie Town Center, Arundel Center North, 101 Cram Highway N.E.; and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 27 on the college's Arnold campus.

Orientation sessions will include information on retail careers, the skills needed to succeed, and tips on preparing a resume and improving interviewing skills.

Arundel Mills mall is scheduled to open Nov. 17, off Route 100 in Hanover.

Chamber has program on using e-commerce

Greater Severna Park Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a program on e-commerce and its advantages and pitfalls for business at noon Sept. 29 at its office, 1 Holly Ave.

The program, sponsored by the chamber's Home-Based Business Group, is called, "The New E-Conomy - Who Needs the Internet Anyway?" It will be presented by Richard Smith of Toadnet, who will address Internet sales, safety and security issues involving e-commerce, and related issues.

Business Expo planned at Annapolis High School

The Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual Business Expo from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 19 at Annapolis Senior High School on Riva Road.

The cost for members to exhibit is $425 with registration and payment by Friday, and $475 after that date.
