Hearing set today for man charged in woman's killing

A bail hearing is scheduled today in Towson District Court for the 44-year-old security guard who Baltimore County police said confessed to killing an Essex woman late last month.

Richard Lee Donnelly, of the 6600 block of Golden Ring Road, was charged Saturday with first- degree murder in the death of Rosemarie Shew, 38. Donnelly is being held without bail at the County Detention Center.

Shew's decapitated body was found at a Reisterstown construction site. She was first reported missing after she failed to return home from a trip to the supermarket on Aug. 27.

Donnelly confessed at Towson police headquarters Friday, according to charging documents. He told police he met the victim on Aug. 27 at an Essex-area Metro Food Market, documents state.
