Washington (1-0) at Detroit (1-0)

September 10, 2000

Time: 4:15 p.m., chs. 45, 5.

Line: Redskins by 6.

Vs. spread: Redskins 0-1; Lions 1-0.

Series: Redskins lead 24-9.

Last meeting: Redskins won, 27-13, on Jan. 8 in NFC wild-card game.

Outlook: The Redskins didn't look like a championship team last week, although DE Bruce Smith, one of their big-name, big-salaried additions, looked like the Bruce Smith of 1990. What's most impressive are the offensive tackles, rookie Chris Samuels and second-year man Jon Jansen. This might get interesting with QB Charlie Batch returning for the Lions. Batch missed the entire preseason with a knee injury.

Notable: Redskins RB Stephen Davis has 100 yards rushing in four of his past seven games. He had 119 yards and two TDs in the last meeting with the Lions.

Injuries:

REDSKINS: Out-C Cory Raymer (knee). Questionable-RB Skip Hicks (knee). Probable-RB Mike Sellers (shoulder); WR James Thrash (groin); WR Michael Westbrook (ankle).

LIONS: Out-G Stockar McDougle (knee). Doubtful-LB Barrett Green (ankle); LB Clint Kriewalt (ankle); WR Herman Moore (shoulder). Probable-QB Charlie Batch (knee).
