Ex-student charged in stabbing at school

ABERDEEN - A former Aberdeen High School student was being held on $100,000 bail yesterday at the Harford County Detention Center after she was charged with stabbing a student on school property.

Janique Shante Gardner, 17, of no fixed address, was charged as an adult with first-degree assault after a 15-year-old girl was stabbed twice in the back Thursday, police said. The girl, whose name was not released, was flown to Maryland Shock Trauma Center at 2:55 p.m. She was recovering at home yesterday.

Donald R. Morrison, Harford County schools spokesman, said he could not recall any other student being assaulted with a weapon at the high school, which has an enrollment of 1,200, or at any other county school. A crisis intervention team was sent to the high school yesterday, he said.
