Mount de Sales Academy names new headmistress

CATONSVILLE - Mount de Sales Academy has a new headmistress, Sister Mary Reginald.

A native of Bedford, England, Sister Mary grew up in Oak Ridge, Tenn. She received a bachelor's degree from Siena College in Memphis, Tenn., and master's degrees from Xavier University in Cincinnati and the University of St. Thomas Aquinas in Rome, Italy.

A Dominican nun for more than three decades, she has been a principal of schools in Tennessee, Ohio and Virginia and was president of Aquinas College in Nashville, Tenn.

Mount de Sales, founded in 1852, is a Catholic college preparatory school for girls.

Free health, legal services to be offered for veterans

EDGEMERE - A weekend of free health and legal services for homeless military veterans, as well as job and housing referrals, will be held Sept. 15 to 17 at the Fort Howard Veterans Administration, 9600 North Point Road.

Free transportation will be available from Baltimore, and Baltimore, Anne Arundel and Harford counties.

Fire Museum to celebrate Founders Day with events

LUTHERVILLE - The Fire Museum of Maryland will celebrate Founders Day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. tomorrow.

Festivities will include a display of miniature fire apparatus, an antique car show, face painting and story time. Food will be available.

Admission is $5 or $4 for seniors and $3 for ages 4 to 18, and free for those younger than 4. The museum is at 1301 York Road in Lutherville. Information: 410-321-7500.
