A 16-year-old Sykesville boy was arrested yesterday and charged as an adult in the sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl in July, court records show.

James R. Beymon of the 4700 block of Bartholow Road was ordered held at the Carroll County Detention Center in Westminster in lieu of $5,000 bail. He was charged with counts of second-and third-degree sexual offense, and second-degree assault, court documents show.

The girl, who also lives in Sykesville, is not being identified to protect her privacy.

According to charging documents, the girl, along with a 14-year-old girl and the boy, went to the Sykesville home of a 21-year-old man, who allegedly gave them whiskey, on July 9.

The four went outside, and the girl was led behind the home, where she was allegedly raped by the 21-year-old, investigators said.

State police said the girl told them she was pulled behind the home a second time and alleged that she was sexually assaulted by the teen.

Court records show that Matthew Crockett, 21, of Osage Court was arrested in the case and is awaiting trial on rape and other charges.
