Long Reach teen wins Coca-Cola scholarship

The student: Terra Alise Dodson, 17

School: Long Reach High School

Special achievement: Winner of the Coca-Cola National Scholarship. She was chosen from more than 117,000 original applicants for her community service, academic merit, extracurricular activities and leadership, and she received a monetary award after a final interview at Coca-Cola headquarters in Atlanta.

What she says about it: "Throughout the entire application process, I was surprised, anxious and excited, as well as honored. When I was notified that I was a finalist in the competition, I was overjoyed and grateful. I thank the Lord God for blessing me with the privilege of winning this award. I want to thank the Coca-Cola Scholarship Foundation for a wonderful weekend in Atlanta... ."

What motivates her: "My faith in God, the love and support that I receive from my family and friends. Also, the example my mother set for me of what a woman should be."
