The crime report is a sampling of crimes in Howard County compiled from police. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 410-313-3700.

West Columbia

Harpers Farm Road: 5400 block, Harper's Choice. A man was walking on a path behind Harper's Choice Village Center on Sunday, when he was approached by five or six men who assaulted him and took his money after he refused to hand it over. Police say the robbers were 16 to 19 years old.

East Columbia

Berger Road: 6400 block, Kings Contrivance. Someone entered The Lube Center on Friday morning, deactivated the alarm and stole money from the safe and cash register.

Dobbin Road: 6600 block, Owen Brown. A security guard at Bowles Fluidics noticed Aug. 27 that tape had been put on a door to hold a lock down. Four computers were reported missing.

Ellicott City

Old Frederick Road: 11400 block. A home was burglarized Aug. 30. The front door was forced open and various electronic equipment, including a television, video cassette recorders, a digital video disc player and numerous compact discs were stolen.

Old Frederick Road: 15000 block. A man entered Westminster Bank and Trust on Friday and displayed a handgun. He fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. Police are searching for a man described as being in his 30s, 6-feet-4 with long black hair and a pony tail.

Western Howard

Near U.S. 40 and Interstate 70: Marriottsville. The State Highway Administration notified Maryland State Police on Friday that several marijuana plants were found growing on the eastbound Interstate 70 right-of-way, east of the U.S. 40 split. Troopers responded and recovered 11 plants.

Woodbine Road: 3700 block, Woodbine. Someone entered an apartment through an unlocked door Aug. 28. After obtaining keys inside, the person stole a 1988 Nissan truck.
