Discovery School set to open building on Route 3 in Crofton with 6 classrooms

September 05, 2000

The Discovery School will open a new building on Route 3 North in Crofton when classes resume for a new academic year today.

Begun in 1998, the private, nondenominational primary school educates pupils from "kindergarten transition" and kindergarten through fourth grade. It provides and educational foundation that seeks to instill confidence and independence.

The new building, with 6,000 square feet of space, has six classrooms, a library, a computer lab, and areas for music and art.

Its administrator. Amy Weaver, said pupils in the school are "learning by doing."

"If they are learning about the Chesapeake Bay, they will build a bay environment in their classroom and pick up trash at Sandy Point Park," she said. "It's a hands-on approach."

Information: Weaver at 410-721-2914.
