Police search for suspect in sexual assaults

September 02, 2000|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

Police are searching for a man suspected of attacking teen-age girls at East Baltimore bus stops, forcing them to secluded areas and sexually assaulting them.

Four girls have reported being attacked in the past five weeks.

Police said that in all cases, the victims had just gotten off city buses; one was threatened with a knife.

The latest incident occurred Thursday around 9:15 a.m. in the 400 block of N. Central Ave. Police said a 15-year-old girl was forced from a bus stop to an alley near a vacant rowhouse and assaulted.

Police described the suspect as a black male between 15 and 17 years old, between 5 feet 5 inches and 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing about 140 pounds. He was last seen wearing a gray shirt with the word "enyce" across the front, and blue jeans. He has "R.I.P." tattooed on his right arm.

Anyone with information is urged to call the sex offense unit at 410-396-2076 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 410-276-8888.
