Baltimore City
Northwestern District
Shooting: A man, 32, was shot in the back of the head about 12:35 a.m. yesterday in the 2600 block of Fairview Ave. Darry Harrod of the 3600 block of Bauers Ave. was in critical condition at Maryland Shock Trauma Center. Police had no suspect and knew of no motive for the shooting.
Eastern District
Rape: A woman, 35, was in the 2400 block of Belair Road about 6 a.m. Tuesday when a man with a knife forced her onto the grounds of Clifton Park Golf Course and raped her. She was treated at Mercy Medical Center.
Theft: A laptop computer valued at $2,000 was stolen from an office at city schools headquarters in the 200 block of E. North Ave. on Aug. 23. The theft was reported Tuesday.
Theft from vehicle: Several compact discs, a computer and a wallet containing a small sum of money, all valued at nearly $4,000, were stolen from a 2000 Kia parked Tuesday in the 1900 block of Ashland Ave.
Southwestern District
Carjacking: A motorist was stopped at a traffic sign in the 2000 block of N. Ellamont St. about 8:15 p.m. Tuesday when two men, one with a handgun, forced him out of his black 2001 Pontiac Aztec sport utility vehicle and drove off. The motorist ran to a nearby fire station and reported the incident.
Southern District
Vandalism: A 1996 Honda Passport sport utility vehicle was parked in the 300 block of Key Highway on Tuesday when someone shattered a rear window with a rock that was found in the cargo area. The window was valued at $200.
Southeastern District
Burglary/arrest: A man broke into a house in the first block of N. Montford Ave. on Tuesday and stole two videocassette recorders valued at $500. While investigating, police learned that a man fitting the burglar's description was hiding in a nearby dwelling. William Jackson, 26, of no fixed address was arrested and the property recovered.
Stolen car: A blue Dodge Spirit with tags CCN 177 was stolen Tuesday in the first block of S. East Ave.
Stolen car: A blue 1993 Plymouth Voyager with dealer tags 1A72890 was stolen Tuesday in the 300 block of S. Eaton St.
Western District
Theft of vehicle: While a deliveryman for Triple C Wholesalers was in a store in the 800 block of N. Smallwood St. about 6 p.m. Tuesday, someone stole the company's 1996 GMC truck with tags 16E416.
Baltimore County
Towson Precinct
Robbery try/stolen vehicle: A man was about to remove money from an automated teller machine at Greenspring Station in the 10700 block of Falls Road about 4 p.m. Tuesday when another man - armed with what appeared to be a rifle wrapped in a towel - demanded the cash. The victim ran off and called police. Moments later, the gunman stole a 1997 Honda with tags GKW 930 that was parked nearby and escaped.
Burglary/arrest: Police responding to a burglar alarm in the 200 block of Cockeysville Road early Tuesday spotted a man near the house, found burglar tools in his possession and arrested him. Police said no property was taken from the house. Charged with burglary was a 20-year-old resident of Temple Garden Apartments in the 2600 block of Madison Ave. in Baltimore City.
Parkville Precinct
Burglary: A 9.9-horsepower Mercury boat motor - valued at more than $1,100 - was stolen Tuesday from a garage in the 3100 block of Putty Hill Ave.
Garrison Precinct
Robbery: A woman, 73, was about to enter her car in the first block of Deauville Court about 9 a.m. Tuesday when a man shoved her and stole her purse containing cash and property, all of unknown value.
Burglary: A television, videocassette recorder and boom-box radio, all valued at nearly $450, were stolen Tuesday from a house in the 3700 block of Old Milford Mill Road. The thief entered through a rear door.
White Marsh Precinct
Theft: A woman, 31, entered a house in the 7600 block of Philadelphia Road on Tuesday and stole a socket set, cellular phone, compact discs and clothing, all valued at nearly $4,000. Police know her identity and are looking for her.
