August 29, 2000|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

Annapolis city police said yesterday that they were continuing to search for a man who robbed and raped a 39-year-old woman at gunpoint about midnight Saturday near the heart of the state capital.

The woman was walking from her car to her house on Stehle Street when she was approached by a man with a black handgun, police said. The woman gave him her purse when he demanded money; then walked her at gunpoint behind some nearby houses and raped her, officers said.

She reported the attack immediately, said police, who were working on a detailed description of the suspect.
