A 44-year-old Annapolis man who was found bloody and unconscious Thursday outside the Robin Wood housing complex in Annapolis was listed in critical but stable condition yesterday at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, authorities said.

Reginald McGowan, an auto transmission repairman, was found with a severe wound to the left side of his face about 1 a.m. in the 1300 block of Tyler Ave. Detectives believe that he might have been on his way to visit a friend.

McGowan, whose identity Annapolis police initially were unable to confirm, appeared to have been robbed and assaulted, Detective Kevin Lloyd said.
