Three women and a juvenile were arrested in Havre de Grace Tuesday when a group of about 20 turned against the town's police officers and started attacking them, a police spokesman said yesterday. The officers, responding to a call, were trying to disperse a crowd loitering on Girard Street around 4:30 p.m. when the altercation occurred.

Havre de Grace police called in units from Aberdeen, the Harford County Sheriff's Office and state police to help control the melee. Two Havre de Grace officers received minor injuries.

Mildred J. Sheppard, 67, Jacquline Valdez, 42, and Denene Harrison, 35, all of Havre de Grace, were charged with resisting arrest and hindering police. They were released on recognizance. The juvenile, also of Havre de Grace, was charged with first-degree assault and destruction of a police vehicle.
