A Westminster man was arrested Monday after allegedly cutting off some of his girlfriend's hair with a steak knife, court records show.

Richard L. Carbon, 34, of the first block of Union St. was charged with first- and second-degree assault and use of a deadly weapon to injure. He was released on $5,000 bail Monday night.

Westminster police responding to a call discovered damaged stereo equipment and clumps of red hair outside the house.

According to police reports, Carbon had been drinking when he became angry at his girlfriend, Danielle Zepp Franklin. He is accused of chasing her through the house with the knife, hitting her and cutting off her hair, police said.
