July 23, 2000

A 44-year-old Baltimore man whose right arm was severed above the wrist at a Lansdowne cotton processing firm last week was in good condition yesterday at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.

James B. Carpenter was performing maintenance on a cotton-cleaning machine at Tedco Industries Inc. in the 3900 block of Washington Blvd. when his arm became caught in the machine and was crushed, owner Richard DeBois said. The machine severed the arm above the wrist, DeBois said yesterday.
