A man wanted on a New Jersey murder charge was tracked down in Anne Arundel County and arrested Tuesday night as he went to work at a Laurel supermarket, authorities reported yesterday.

County police said Darryl R. Atkins, 32, was arrested without incident about 10 p.m. when he arrived at the Shopper's Food Warehouse in the 3400 block of Fort Meade Road.

Police said New Jersey detectives had received a letter with information that Atkins was employed by the business. The Washington-area grocery chain gave the police access to its employee papers to identify the address provided by Atkins when he applied for the job, police said.

He had been living with relatives in the 200 block of Easton South in Laurel, police said.

Atkins was wanted by authorities in Essex County, N.J., on charges of homicide and unlawful possession of a handgun in connection with a December shooting, police said.
