27th Annual Virginia Scottish Games

Alexandria, Va., will show that it is forever plaid this weekend at the 27th annual celebration of the area's Scottish past. Bagpipers will entertain an expected crowd of more than 22,000, while clan societies, genealogy groups and living-history actors celebrate Scottish heritage. Athletes will compete in Highland games, including the caber toss - flipping a log the size of a telephone pole end over end. The festival also features a British car show, children's games and dancing.

The games run tomorrow through Sunday at Episcopal High School, 3901 W. Braddock Road, Alexandria. Tickets are $9 in advance and $10 at the gate. Call 703-912-1943 or visit www.vascottishgames.org.
