Red Sox update

The good news for the Orioles is they won't have to deal with Pedro Martinez. But they get a club that has won four straight and eight of 11. Before last night's 3-1 win over Montreal, the Red Sox's 4.13 ERA was the lowest in the American League. The Orioles were 16-17 when the Red Sox showed up May 11 for a four-game series. They were five games below .500 when it was over. Boston outscored the Orioles 35-6, including a 9-0 loss when Ponson was charged with five runs in eight innings. The teams played three games at Fenway Park in late June, with the Orioles taking two of three. Schourek shut them out over seven innings, but the Orioles rallied against closer Derek Lowe and took a 6-3 victory in 10 innings. That was Cal Ripken's last game before going on the DL. Lowe blew another save the following night, as the Orioles rallied for an 8-7 win in 11 innings. Erickson couldn't complete the sweep, giving up seven runs and 10 hits in five innings on June 29.
