Police Blotter is a sampling of crimes from police reports in Baltimore City and Baltimore County.

Baltimore City

Southeastern District

Theft: Someone stole a red 1992 Ford Explorer, license plate number M349-529, in the 3800 block of E. Lombard St. about 2:30 a.m. yesterday. The owner left the keys to the vehicle on the front seat. The doors were not locked.

Eastern District

Theft: Someone stole a laptop computer, valued at $1,600, from Johns Hopkins Hospital about noon yesterday. The owner, who was visiting the hospital, left the computer unattended for 15 minutes.

Burglary: Someone stole 18 cartons of cigarettes from the Corner, a grocery store in the 2000 block of Ashland Ave. after the shop closed Sunday and before it reopened yesterday. The burglar entered through a first-floor window that was pried open with a tool.

Assault and robbery: Someone punched a motorist in the face and robbed him of his wallet as he waited at a red light in the 500 block of E. Preston St. about 8:30 p.m. Sunday. No value was given for the wallet or its contents.

Southwestern District

Burglary: Someone stole a fax machine, telephone and caller identification box from a storage and moving business in the 3900 block of Frederick Ave. The crime was reported at 8 a.m. when the victim arrived at the business and found the door ajar. It had been forcibly opened. Total value of objects stolen was $180.

Southern District

Larceny: Someone stole a Sony compact disc stereo, valued at $120, from the center console of vehicle parked in the 1500 block of Boyle St. yesterday. The crime was reported at 8:45 a.m. A passenger-side window of the vehicle had been broken.

Larceny: Someone stole a black Motorola cellular telephone, valued at $100, from a vehicle parked in the 1800 block of Westphal Place on Sunday. The crime was reported at 12:18 p.m. A window had been pried open. Neighbors said they heard nothing.

Baltimore County

Wilkins Precinct

Second degree burglary: Someone broke into the Five Oaks Swim Club in the 1800 block of Frederick Road in Catonsville between 8 p.m. Sunday and 11:30 a.m. yesterday and took $506 from a box under the cash register.

Essex Precinct

Home invasion robbery: Two men - one armed with a revolver - forced their way into a house in the 900 block of Sandalwood Road about 3 p.m. yesterday. They struck one of three victims on the head with the revolver, tied up all the victims and ransacked the house. They took $1,000 in cash, three rings worth $300 and a necklace valued at $575.
