Famous Dave's chain restaurant opens in Columbia

Famous Dave's Bar-B-Que held a grand opening Wednesday at 6201 Columbia Crossing Circle in Columbia.

The chain serves barbecued meats, salads, side items, sandwiches and desserts.

Famous Dave's of America operates restaurants in Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, Maryland, Nebraska, Wisconsin and Virginia.

Commercial exhibitors needed for 50+ Expo

The county Office on Aging, Department of Citizen Services, is seeking exhibitors for Howard County's 50+ Expo to be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 20 at Wilde Lake High School, 5460 Trumpeter Road, Columbia.

Expo visitors will view programs, products and services geared toward aging well. More than 100 organizations and companies will present exhibits and displays.

All nonprofit exhibit spaces have been filled, and planners are seeking commercial exhibitors.

`Career in Real Estate' scheduled for Wednesday

Long and Foster Realtors will hold "A Career in Real Estate" seminar at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at its Ellicott City office, 9171 Baltimore National Pike.

Those who attend will learn how to start a real estate career, course requirements and costs, and the benefits of a real estate career.

The real estate seminars will also be held in Columbia July 26 and 27.

Rapid Sign Center wins Leadership Award

Rapid Sign Center, in Elkridge, won the Leadership Award at the Sign World Convention, held in Orlando, Fla.

Owners Joe and Judy Brown accepted the award, which recognizes contributions and service in the industry.
