Eastern District

Arson: Someone set an occupied house on fire about 3:30 a.m. yesterday in the 900 block of N. Castle St. The occupants escaped without injuries. Police do not know how the fire was set.

Northwestern District

Attempted shoplifting: A woman is accused of trying to steal three videos and a video game - all valued at $50 - from the Kmart store in the 5700 block of Wabash Ave. about 12:30 p.m. yesterday. Store security personnel detained her for police.

Theft: Someone ran into One Price Clothing in the 6800 block of Reisterstown Road about 12:30 p.m. yesterday, took 15 dresses - all valued at $150 - off a rack and ran out of the store.

Theft: Someone stole a Roadmaster bicycle, valued at $250, from in front of a home in the 2700 block of Gatehouse Drive about 8:30 a.m. yesterday.

Western District

Armed robbery: A man was walking out of a sub shop in the 2200 block of Edmondson Ave. about midnight yesterday when a car pulled up next to him and a passenger with a handgun got out, robbed him of $465 in cash and property and fled in the vehicle.

Larceny: A man walking in the 1800 block of Smallwood St. about noon yesterday was attacked from behind by someone who stole $30 and $10 worth of lottery tickets from his pocket and fled on foot.

Stolen vehicle: Someone stole a green 1998 Dodge from the 700 block of W. Baltimore St. between 8 a.m. and 5:15 p.m. Monday. Police did not know the model of the car, which has tag number EWP 678.

Stolen vehicle: Someone stole a red four-door 1988 Toyota Corolla from the 2700 block of Harlem Ave. between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. Monday. The car's tag number is FZC 149.

Baltimore County

Woodlawn Precinct

Burglary: Someone entered a shed in the 9900 block of Hoyt Circle between 9 p.m. Monday and 7 a.m. yesterday by cutting a padlock and stole a lawn mower, hedge trimmer and lawn trimmer, all valued at $300.

Garrison Precinct

Destruction of property/hate crime: A woman living in the first block of Rainbow Court found an anti-Semitic epithet on her mailbox about 5 p.m. Monday. A swastika written with a marker was on her rear window.

Unarmed robbery: A man approached someone riding a bicycle near Vogas Court and Twin Lakes Court about 5 p.m. Monday, forced the rider off the bicycle and rode off on it. The bicycle was valued at $159.

Attempted burglary: A resident of the first block of Caraway Road heard someone breaking in through the basement door about 5 p.m. Monday and went to investigate but found nothing missing.

Essex Precinct

Burglary: Someone entered Fattie's Bar & Grill in the 1000 block of Old Eastern Ave. between 2 a.m. and 9 a.m. yesterday by prying a rear door and stole a safe with $5,200 inside, took an unknown amount from the cash register and damaged a poker machine.

Attempted burglary: Someone tried to enter a business in the first block of Back River Neck Road about 2 p.m. yesterday by prying or pulling a side door. Nothing was taken.
