David Buonora named a director at community college

Howard Community College has named David A. Buonora director of legislative relations and business development.

In his new position, Buonora will work to promote the education services available through the college's Business Training Center and other academic programs. He will also serve as a liaison with elected and government officials.

Dr. Scott Maurer to open an office in Glenwood

Dr. Scott Maurer, in collaboration with Johns Hopkins Medicine and Howard County General Hospital, has announced the opening of an office at Inwood Shopping Center in Glenwood.

Maurer has been practicing medicine in Howard County for more than 15 years.

Hartman, Smith directors of kidney foundation

The National Kidney Foundation of Maryland has named Columbia resident Ron Hartman and Ellicott City resident Karen Smith to its board of directors. Hartman is executive vice president of Yellow Transportation. Smith is senior district business manager for Bristol-Myers Squibb.

Domestic Violence Center chooses four directors

The Domestic Violence Center in Columbia has added four members to its board of directors: Columbia resident Michele Cohen, Ellicott City residents Maureen McCollum and Al Petrlik, and Glenwood resident Kathy Rensin.

Transportation agency announces board, officers

Urban Rural Transportation Alliance, a Columbia-based agency, has named board members and officers.

Mary Jo Barranco has been named president, Edwin McKee has been named vice president and Marianne Pulio has been named secretary and treasurer. Board members are Bernard Cook, Laurie Remer, Kim Sherman, Leon Rose, Edmund Coale, Paul Verchinsky, Ann Wicke and Mary Ann Wilkinson.
