`Red, White and Blue'

The hoopla of the holiday has passed. But maybe you're not through celebrating. The Baltimore Museum of Art is throwing its monthly First Thursday party tonight in honor of that grand old flag. Enjoy tours of the museum's American art collections, outdoor blues music in the Wurtzburger Sculpture Garden, walks through the Levi Sculpture Garden and make-your-own flag craft events for all. And if you like, tour the current exhibit, "The Triumph of French Painting," and create a banner or flag of France, a country whose own flag shares the same colors as our own.

First Thursday events take place from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the Baltimore Museum of Art, 10 Art Museum Drive. Free. Call 410-396-6314.

`Day Out With Thomas'

He's chugging into town. Thomas the Tank Engine, star of the children's television series "Storytime With Thomas," is making a stop at the B&O Railroad Museum, Saturday through July 16, and taking visitors on train rides. The train is a 55-ton steam engine replica of Thomas the Tank Engine. Visitors will be able to meet Thomas and Sir Topham Hatt, watch Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends videos, play games, see exhibits and enjoy live entertainment.

Thomas the Tank Engine will be at the B&O Railroad Museum, 901 W. Pratt St., from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 8-16. Train ride and museum admission is $12 for ages 2 to adult; $10 for seniors 60 and up and free for ages under 2 (on an adult's lap). Repeat rides cost $5. Call 410-752-2490.
