Water, water everywhere

MARYLAND SCENE

July 02, 2000|By Sloane Brown

How do you cap off two perfect days of golf? How about with a cool cocktail party in a glass- enclosed lounge overlooking Baltimore's Inner Harbor, before taking off on a late-night cruise around that same inlet? So, the Woodholme Foundation ended its fifth annual Celebrity Weekend.

The cocktail lounge at the Harbor Inn at Pier 5 looked the peak of summer chic -- filled with 200 partygoers in slinky summer dresses, snazzy sports jackets and suits.

Spotted in the mix: Kathy Briggs, party chair; Ovetta Moore, celebrity weekend coordinator; DeWayne Wickham, Woodholme Foundation board chair; Wanda Persons Wickham, Vanessa Wickham Baker, Henry Harper, Lou Phillips and Sharon Pinder, board members; Tim Reid and Daphne Maxwell Reid, co-founders of New Millennium Studios; John Felder, DaimlerChryslerCG district manager; Moses Brewer, corporate relations manager for Coors Brewing Co.; Germaine Leftridge, president of GBL Sales, Inc.; Myron Wickham, State of Maryland health policy analyst; Charles Tildon, president of Charles G. Tildon Associates, Inc.; Robert Steele, Hyatt Regency Baltimore general manager; and Toni Davis, 1st Mariner Mortgage Corp. senior loan officer. The foundation works with disadvantaged youths, and the $24,000 raised goes toward its Second Chance program, in which full college tuition costs are covered for economically and socially disadvantaged high school seniors.
