College Park gets extra day off Monday

June 30, 2000

The University of Maryland, College Park will be closed Monday - canceling summer school classes - to give staff members and students a four-day July 4 weekend.

The decision, made this week, does not affect sports camps or scheduled appointments at the speech and hearing clinic. The recreation center will be open.

Staff members have been given a day of administrative leave, and those on vacation Monday will not be charged with a vacation day, college administrators said.
