Western District

Shooting: Police responding to a report of a shooting in the rear of the 1900 block of W. Lanvale St. about 3:20 p.m. yesterday found Jermaine Jordan, 20, of no fixed address, bleeding from gunshot wounds in the left foot, right leg, buttocks and left arm. Jordan was in good condition yesterday at Maryland Shock Trauma Center. No arrest had been made, and no motive for the shooting was known.

Southeastern District

Vandalism: Anti-gay remarks, a swastika and the words "zyklon-b gas" - a reference to the gas used by the Nazis to exterminate millions of people during World War II - were written on a 1997 Dodge van owned by the Assembly of God Church in the 3900 block of Fleet St. in Fells Point between Wednesday night and yesterday morning. Anyone with information should call the police station at 410-396-2422.

Southern District

Carjacking: Two gunmen forced a motorist from his gold-colored 1995 Nissan Pathfinder with unknown temporary tags about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday at Cross and Carroll streets and drove off.

Southwestern District

Theft/arrest: A girl, 14, was arrested Wednesday shortly after she stole nearly $40 worth of cigars and cigarettes from an Amoco station in the 1800 block of Bloomingdale Road.

Northern District

Theft from vehicle: A heart monitoring machine and a cellular phone, all valued at more than $5,000, were stolen Wednesday from a Subaru station wagon parked in the 3300 block of Brightwood Ave.

Baltimore County

Woodlawn Precinct

Murder try/arrest: Two co-workers at the Social Security Administration in the 6400 block of Security Blvd. were arguing about 9 a.m. Wednesday when one of them allegedly pulled a knife and cut the other in the neck. Joseph Bothoff, 22, was treated at Northwest Medical Center and released. Enrico A. Brillantes, 33, was arrested and charged with attempted murder and was processed at the county Detention Center in Towson. It was not immediately known whether the incident occurred in an SSA building or on SSA property.

Assault: A man, 41, and his daughter were arguing about money in their home in the 3500 block of Meadowside Road on Wednesday when he allegedly struck her with an electric fan. He was arrested and charged with aggravated assault.

Towson Precinct

Robbery: Two men were in the 6300 block of York Road about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday when a man they knew robbed one of them of $5, and took a calculator from the other, threw it to the ground and broke it. The suspect, who rode off on a bicycle, was being sought.

For the record

Arrest: Derrick Deon Smith, 21, of the 600 block of N. Decker Ave. was arrested Wednesday by members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force on a warrant charging him with first-degree murder in the death of Kevin Dwayne Archer. Archer, 27, was shot April 25 in the 1000 block of N. Wolfe St. Smith is being held without bail at Central Booking and Intake Center.
