Man found fatally shot in vacant city house

June 25, 2000

A 32-year-old Baltimore man was found shot dead in a vacant house at 31 E. North Ave. early yesterday, the apparent victim of a botched robbery, police said.

Larry Hines was found dead about 4 a.m. by his sister and friends after they noticed he had been absent from Club Choices, 1815 N. Charles St., for at least 45 minutes, said Ragina C. Averella, public affairs director for the Baltimore police.

Hines' sister and friends told police he left the club to "get some air."

His body was found not far from a friend's Mazda sedan, keys for which Hines was carrying. The car's sunroof was broken, said Averella.

The crime is being investigated as a homicide, she said.
