Cardinals: Placed 2B Fernando Vina on 15-day DL, retroactive to Saturday, with strained right hamstring. Activated P Mike James.

Marlins: Signed P Denny Bautista.

Rangers: Placed P Darren Oliver on 15-day DL with weakness in left shoulder.

Red Sox: Assigned IF Andy Sheets outright to Triple-A Pawtucket.

Royals: Recalled OF Mark Quinn from Triple-A Omaha. Sent IF Ray Holbert outright to Omaha.
